With most tributes to bossa nova centering around Jobim and Gilberto, Pianist/arranger Antonio Adolfo celebrates the composing skills of the lesser known Carlos Lyra and Roberto Menescal on this upbeat release. The team of Lula Galvao/g, Jorge Helder/b, Rafael Barata/dr, Dada Costa-Rafael Barata/perc, Jesse Sadoc/tp-f, Danilo Sinna/as, Rafael Rocha/tb and Marcelo Martins/ts-fl create warm texture and harmonies as on “Samba Do Carioca” and the fragrant “O Barquinho”. Rocha is warm on the pretty “Coisa Mais Linda” and Sadac gets festiv for “Rio” with some percoating percussion grroving deep for Galvao on “Bye Bye Brasil”. Matins’ flute is fluffy for “Marcha Da Quarta-Feira De Cinzas” and Adolfo’s presence is felt more than heard, but he stands out on the gorgeous “Tete”. Tall and tan…
